Family support 3.18.15On Thursday, November 18th, the Senate HELP Committee demonstrated bi-partisan leadership to assist family caregivers through the RAISE (Recognize, Assist, Include, Support, and Engage) Family Caregivers Act (HR 3099). The bill will would authorize the US Secretary of Health and Human Services to develop a national family caregiver strategy that would identify specific actions that the federal, state and local governments could take to support family caregivers in a culturally competent manner. The RAISE Act would also authorize the development of an advisory council with proceedings open to the public and require the collection and dissemination of evidence based or promising practices regarding supports for family caregivers.
