According to AARP, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed House Bill 6162 into law, which allows employees to use six months of accrued sick leave benefits for a family member’s illness, injury or medical appointment. The legislators who sponsored the bill mentioned the new law would provide working people flexibility to care for family members without the threat of losing employment that would not burden businesses.
