National Resource Center on Family Support

Community support is provided through the FSRTC’s National Resource Center on Family Support Research which encompasses the dissemination, training, and technical assistance (TA) activities that advance knowledge on family support. These activities help build the capacity in the community and are inter-related and far reaching. Ultimately, the goal is for families to receive the information and support they need to more effectively support their family members with disabilities to lead self-determined lives.


  • Provide technical assistance and distribute information to diverse stakeholders
  • Sponsor State of the Science Conference on Family Support
  • Develop data briefs that synthesize research

 Provide training opportunities for:

  • Aging and Disabilities Resource Center staff and families
  • Organizations through train-the-trainer caregiver interventions
  • Students to prepare for careers related to family support

Technical assistance

  • Sponsor family support coalitions in states to promote collaboration across disability
  • Promote outreach to siblings and sibling support organizations
  • Establish a clearinghouse of information
